Low Zanzia
- Lieu : Au-dessus de Rio Volcan
- Orientation : Nord
- Hauteur : 820m
- Matériel : None needed. Emergency kit for a rappel if jumping isn't possible would be wise. It would be very treacherous to downclimb.
- Posé : Can land in the river valley below (~1000m alt.), or along the road (~800m-900m alt.). Expect high winds during the day, typical to the Andes.
- Première : Trevor Bockstahler, 11.01.24
Acces: 3h
Exit Coordonnées GPS: -33.830743, -70.027736
Approach is via the scrambling route linked below: https://www.andeshandbook.org/montanismo/cerro/840/Zanzi
Scrambling, and at some points quite exposed. The listed route continues via technical climbing to the top of the spire that is still unopened.
Starting the hike above the large wash to save altitude would be a mistake. It's not easy to cross.
Most of the wall is an exit. I chose this one in particular because it was a clear profile from the exit and valley winds were building quickly.
