Dear Base Jumpers,
We've jumped this wenesday 04 of July from the Aiguille du Midi
, with Jean-Phi Gady and Mathieu Leroux
This message is not for showing of, but for warning.
This jump and the Exit we used is
STRICTLY FORBIDDEN!!!!Opening the Brevent jump the week before, and the long negociations that followed, have allowed
very temporarily the 3 of us up there, for once only.
Do NOT expect to jump again, and even less doing it like a thief, for many reasons:
- security is quite responsive and nowhere to hide.
- the jump is
extremely technical and can NOT be done on the rush (very positive departure, 20m forward at -130m, 30m at -150..., and I don't even mention the very beginning of the flight inside a 15m narrow canyon, with 5 high voltage cables just out of this same canyon...)
- exit
permanently frozen, requiring a careful cleaning, in front of people and of course employees.
- R30B restricted area (the whole mont-blanc area)
forbidden to any flight due to many rescue helicopters.
- weather conditions, almost always windy at this altitude.
- restricted landing areas
- again,
very difficult jump, which needs a specific and daily trainning.
Above all,
DO NOT JUMP FROM THE AIGUILLE DU MIDI. Since the opening of the Brevent, we've worked for a good
image of base jumping in the valley, and good relationships with people in this new area. Be respectful, don't ruin what we
fought for and the work of local jumpers. It could only end in "no jumps" in Chamonix, and that means Brevent too. It would
be such a shame...
Thanks to all of you, and fly safe
